Pre-retirement seminars: these were not held neither at UNOG nor at ILO in person
but videos were made available to future retirees on taxes and pensions.
We were informed that the retirement procedures have been difficult as a result of
teleworking. In addition, the new retirees were thrown into the sometimes very
strict health measures without preparation.
We would like to thank the UNOG administration and Security for their confidence
in us to resume our activities.
Social events: The lunch on 24 March 2020 could not be held.
We hope that autumn 2021 will allow us to meet again.
Contacts with the city of Geneva: our "Carrefour international" meetings at the Cité
Seniors were unfortunately cancelled.
We were able to meet there in October 2020.
The activities should resume this autumn and we hope that this will allow family
caregivers to find some moral support because their situation has been very
complicated for the last 18 months.
Participation in the activities of the Platform of Geneva's seniors' associations:
We had the chance to participate on 14 March in a very fruitful exchange between
the different associations and thus better understand how to use their services for
our members.
However, the health situation did not allow us to continue.
Two face-to-face meetings of the platform allowed us to keep the link.
We would like to thank the platform for its monthly information which helped us to
prepare our newsletters.
The thorny issue of French taxation: We are not tax experts and, moreover, the rules
change regularly.
Thanks to a rapprochement with AFIF, we were able to inform our members who
are not subject to French social security coverage about the CSG exemption on
banking and property income. We have established a long-term relationship with
Brocard Avocats, which has offices in Juvigny (Haute-Savoie) and St Genis (Ain)
Relations with the Pension Fund: The transfer of the two main administrative posts
from Geneva to New York and the teleworking have made relations more difficult.
However, regular contact has been established with New York to resolve
outstanding issues.
