THE DALAI LAMA VINEYARD

Where is the smallest vineyard in the world ?

It is not far from Geneva and it belongs to…

The village of Saillon is known for its famous thermal baths, and the smallest vineyard in
the world is located just above it, uphill. With a registered surface area of 1,618 m2, it
has only 3 vines. The name of this vineyard is “Vigne à Farinet”, and it is located on
Ardente Hill. This place is not so far from Geneva (1h30 drive), and about 20 km from
Montreux and close to Martigny.

The most incredible thing is to know who the owner is of this smallest vineyard in the
world. You'll never guess – it is the Dalai Lama! This vineyard belongs to a spiritual
leader and Nobel Peace Prize 1989 winner. How did it happen?
