The last few years have been particularly challenging. We can legitimately ask
ourselves what lies ahead in the future. Pandemics and alarming news follow one
another, and the climate crisis, with all its consequences, is now really perceived by all.
Community life requires solidarity actions to be initiated and pursued in the long term. In
this context, associations have, more than ever, their role to play.
Some associations are disappearing, others, due to a lack of volunteers, dynamics or to
adapt to demand, are forced to merge in order to strengthen their system and their
efficiency. The main thing is that they should be able to offer identical action and
respond to the demands of their members.
But what about AAFI-AFICS?
We can say that we are at a crossroads. There are several roads open to us:
• A humming along, publishing a few newsletters a year, holding a general meeting
in principle..., which is already complicated by the restrictions on access to the
Palais des Nations,
• A refusal to change habits to let the association die slowly, without noise!
• A dynamic approach with more seminars and social activities. Yes, but here we
need more young and motivated members in the Committee (see call for
applications).
Our association has a real role to play, especially in helping retirees left behind by the
forced march towards computerisation.
Let's recharge our batteries, let's reinvent ourselves. The number of memberships at the
beginning of the year shows that people are really waiting for us.
