Journaling Journaling is a way to sort through your thoughts and feelings. It is also a way to keep a record of
what prayers you have offered to God. Many saints kept journals, which you can use as spiritual
reading.
Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you as you journal.
Write about anything and everything that is moving
through your mind.
To get started or if you draw a blank, the following are
ideas and suggestions to write about:
Write to God what you are thankful for.
Praise God for His wonderful works in writing.
Ask the questions that you wonder about.
Share your dreams with God.
Praying with Music
Praying with music is a way to pray when you don’t have words.
Play music and focus on the feelings and thoughts that
the music brings.
Then lift those feelings and thoughts up to God.
For more structured prayer with music select a favorite
hymn or contemporary worship song. Choose one of
the methods below to pray the song:
Look up the lyrics and read through the words as a
prayer.
Write out the verses that speak most profoundly to
you as a prayer.
Sing along to the song, paying particular attention
to the words. Sing the words as a prayer to God.
