The Division of
Brain Medicine
The treatment of brain disorders is complex
and requires the expertise of multiple medical
professions. The Division of Brain Medicine’s teams
of neurologists, neurosurgeons, neuroradiologists,
psychiatrists, and experts in rehabilitation
medicine provide multidimensional treatment
to thousands of patients who suffer from debilitating
brain disorders, applying and developing new joint
protocols of care and recovery that address the
diverse aspects of modern neuroscience.
Nearly 1,000 stroke victims are treated annually at
the Division of Brain Medicine. In treating strokes,
every moment counts. Soroka’s stroke team, whose
work is supported by the generosity of a foundation
from Chicago, consists of staff members from a
variety of disciplines whose task is to ensure that
patients receive optimal and rapid treatment for
stroke. The work of our staff significantly increases
survival rates, often through complicated brain
surgeries and angiographic procedures.
Soroka’s collaborative clinical brain research is
conducted in cooperation with brain researchers
from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev and from
the biopharmaceutical industry.
