A 12 - year-old patient of Ethiopian origin
was admitted to one of the pediatric
wards at Soroka Medical Center in serious
condition due to an acute problem that
«Just health» required prolonged hospitalization.
Yediot Ahronot Because of her condition, she was
unable to celebrate her Bat Mitzvah. The
celebration had been planned by the
family for a long time and many guests
from Israel and abroad had been invited.
When the patient discovered she would
not be able to attend the festivities, her
mood plummeted. She shut herself in
her room and would not even go out to
the classrooms. She began to refuse to
cooperate with the nursing and medical
staff. As soon as the ward’s management
team learned that her poor mental state
was due to the cancellation of her Bat
Mitzvah celebration, its members geared
up to take action.
