P. 3
First, together with the Beer-Sheva Municipality and United Hatzalah, a volunteer-based emergency medical service
organization, we initiated a project in which Raymond & Nicette Bera Ophthalmology Clinic staff arrives at patients’ homes
in a well-equipped and sanitized ambulance and delivers required sight-preserving intravitreal injections, providing continuity
of treatment and follow-up close to home and under the best possible conditions.
The goal of the project was to bring medical teams close to patients’ homes in order to preserve their vision and health
at a time when they were unable to come to the Raymond & Nicette Bera Ophthalmology Clinic at Soroka. Over the past several
weeks, we carried out over 100 intravitreal injections in this mobile version of the Clinic. This project was warmly and very
gratefully received by our patients, a fact that was reflected in the large number of thank-you letters we received.
The patients found it difficult to believe that they were receiving this service and were so grateful that we were very moved.
This project has also received extensive media coverage—photographs are attached. Please also see several of the many thank
you letters we received from patients.
