Above: Two seats, who needs two seats? An extra seat not
only takes up room, it adds weight. Weight is the enemy for
a racer ( or maybe there just wasn't another seat available).
Below: Anchoring one of the lines of club cars was Lou Stans' XKE. Over the past three months of Cars
and Coffee we've followed the saga of oil pressure and the Jaguar, first, reflecting no pressure, when the oil
was full up, then followed by fluctuating pressures, perhaps a faulty gauge, and finally , the solution was
discovered. His story reminds you of the reason that a car like this is best owned by an engineer with a
workshop, plenty of tools, a down- the- rabbit- hole mentality, and an antique lathe where pieces and parts
can be manufactured as needed. When you next see Lou ask him to tell you the story that involves
British make- do- factory engineering, molly bolts, cotter pins, buying a grungy replacement part off Ebay
and fixing the original mischief maker. You'll want to stand up and cheer for his skill.
