Happy Fall Y?all ! Cooler days are here and the
leaves are turning. It's a beautiful time for a drive.
Our September drive led by Guy and Liz Boye to
Bell Buckle was one for the record books. A gentle
rain kept us busy putting tops up and wiping
t
condensation off the windows. I don? think Janet
Olsen could have been happier celebrating her
85th birthday with a ride in Allan Satterfield?s Big
Healey.
?It?s so much nicer than the one we had," she said We're Growing
when she laid eyes on her beautiful chariot. Her
daughter, Heather Bogdal, who used to own a Welcome t o Our
Sprite, rode with me and had a ball. Newest Members
When we came out of the Bell Buckle Cafe' after Heat her Bogdal &
lunch the rain had stopped. Heather asked if we Janet Olsen
could take the tops down for the ride home. Why not? What could possibly go ' 62 AH 3000 back in
wrong? the day
After a minute taking the top down on the TR6, and 10 minutes taking the top off Paul & Sheri
the Healey, we fired them up. Well, the Triumph fired up, but the Healey was Rowney
struggling. After banging on the starter a few times with no luck, I suggested Aston Martin, Land
trying a jump start with my cables. Allan hooked up the cables to his battery first; Rover Defender, JAG
then, I hooked up mine. First the positive, then the? POP! Sparks flew I-Pace
everywhere! Dang, I forgot-- Healeys have a Positive ground. Fortunately, nothing Ernie Nagy
was damaged, so we swapped the Pos and Neg on the Healey and she fired right 1976 MGB
up. Lesson learned.

A few sprinkles blessed us on the way home, but at speed we stayed fairly dry. It's Herring
all part of the British car experience. At first, I was reluctant to do a drive in the
rain, but it was truly a wonderful, memorable, experience, especially with our 1962 & 1961 MGAs
new friends Heather and Joyce. Welcome to the club, ladies, and Happy Birthday
Joyce, and many more! (As Chip is fond of reminding people, no one remembers
the drives in perfect weather. They always remember the drives when it rains.)
Next, we held our first Club Dinner in a year and a half since the pandemic
settled in. We met at the Bavarian Bierhaus in Nashville at Opry Mills and what a
treat. The evening started with a classic Bavarian OOmPah band complete with
accordion and double bell euphonium. Then incredible bier, sausage, schnitzel
and hamburgers ( German curry catsup available) were served. Delicious! Good
Music, Good Food, and Good Friends-- Club dinners are back.
If you'd like to volunt eer t o host t he next dinner, please let me know at
NashvilleBritishCarClub@gmail.com. We can do this all year round, even when
the weather is too cold for club drives. Let?s keep it going!
Please welcome our new members as we continue to grow.
That's all for now folks. Stay safe. Have fun, see you at our Car Show, and
keep?em on the road.
Cheers, Todd
