The Cars of February
Love Affairs to Remember
Gone but not forgotten look back to ( above) the 1965 Austin Healey Sprite that started
it all in 1990 when JD Damon organized the Nashville British Car Club
Now it's 2023
Take a look at these red heart throbs, the pride and joy of our members.
This is my 1959 TR3A, commission number TS
57856 L with a build date of Monday August
24, 1959.
I purchased a 1967 Triumph Spitfire right after
I finished grad school in 1983. My wife and I
fell in love with it and drove it everywhere in
Cincinnati. The car was easy to work on and
there were several local junkyards that had
many "junked" Triumphs. While at the
junkyards I saw several TR3's and fell in love
with them.
I moved back to Nashville in late 1983 and
found my current TR3A in 1984 in Brentwood
for $3500 (I forgot who I purchased it from) . I
was a first year school teacher and we had to
take a loan out from my father-in-law to
purchase the car. I sold the Spitfire in 1990 for
$2000 and was able to finish paying back my
father-in-law. So, that was 21 years later after
I basically finished my slow restoration that
was completed in 2005. Currently my TR3A
stays in my Murfreesboro garage and I hate to
say that I do not drive it as much as I should
