Facing page and right : Group winner Mike Easterday (top
rght) and his crowd pleasing MGTF and Chip and Barb
Hanback's family heirloom (top left) the only car at the
show that had its fender kissed by a very young enthusiast
who was able to sit in the car and immediately fell in love,
      helped spread the MG magic.
Then, dressed for the event, MG TD owners, Willie Nelson,
standing, and Lilli and Gene Parker were wearing correct
headgear for a day at a British car show. Willie wearing a
porkpie, Lilli tucked up under a head scarf ala QE II, and
Gene wearing (at a rakish angle) what some call a swine
of a hat and the rest of the UK identifies as a driver's cap,
looked the part. Their cars have names as well. The
Parkers' MG, new to them in 2022, is Miss Lizzie ( shown
bottom left), and Willie Nelson's own 1951 MGTD is his
best girl, Blondie, featured in the September issue of
      MOTORING.

Ray Schielde, who learned how to clay bar his 1967
"Fighting Irish" MGB just before the show, posted this
informative and vintage capsule history poster (left) of
MGs from 1924-1965 with his entry. One of the better
things about this car show is that it is a "look and learn"
proposition, thanks to the efforts of the exhibitors to
share information wtth anyone interested in the cars.

     DRIVE IN
MGs like the TC, TD, TE, and TF, which, in the late 1930s and after WWII started the
nationwide enthusiasm for the British sportscar in the USA, still turn heads, and win
hearts, while pushing 70 plus years of age. All the later later editions of MGs also have
     STYLE
their devotees. The marque made a strong showing at the NBCC annual car show in 2022.
Each one comes complete with a wonderful story to tell and dedicated owners, who, if they
could have only have one British car in the garage probably wouldn't think of have
        anything else.
