HEALTH & WELLNESS - Allen Wu
Allen is a grade 11 student at South Huron District High School, whose family owns and operates a restaurant in Exeter where Allen helps out. Allen is interested in health care. Allen’s pathway to date has had him:
• Considering doing summer school co-op because
it is a mandatory part of the SHSM requirement and he could not fit co-op into his timetable this year
• Participating because “SHSM certifications and experiences add to your resume can help getting accepted into colleges or universities”. Allen also said “it also exposes you to opportunities that you may not be aware of”.
• Touring McCann Redi Mix in Mount Carmel, learning about the vast opportunities and careers that the concrete business entails including heavy equipment operators, welders, mechanics and truck drivers
• Completing the Safe Food Handling Certification which is something he can use currently in the restaurant business and his personal life
Allen’s advice is to, “be a good person; keep yourself busy because if you don’t stay in that momentum, you could lose it and become lazy.”
Both graduated with the
Phylicia Krainz was placed with Adescor for engineering. Phylicia was accepted into Civil Engineering at St. Clair College.
Colin Regier working with Hayden Water Wells. Colin was accepted into Drilling and Blasting at Fleming College.
