Hospitality

‘Benedictine monasteries have been places of hospitality and serenity since their foundation
over 1500 years ago; it is our mission to continue this great tradition.’

                                          Mother Maire Hickey, Kylemore Abbey

                                                Monastic Hospitality

‘The gates and threshold of a monastery are places where Jesus can be welcomed in the guise
of a stranger’. (RB 53,1) Monastic hospitality is also a means of Evangelization which
include ways of opening traditional hospitality to retreat groups, faith education, and

                                              guidance in Christian vocation.
Hospitality is a way of reaching out to those who feel alienated from the Church.
