When Good Fear Hits
You Head-On

Good fear changed my life for the better. I had moved from New
York to southern California to go back to college. To supplement my
income, I got involved in real estate investing, which I found exhilarat-
ing. Everything seemed to be going well.
And then one day, as a pedestrian I was hit by a car, and I ended
up in the hospital. I woke up ten days later from a coma and realized
I was paralyzed on the left side of my body. I was in shock and could
barely remember anything of what had happened or what my life had
been like.
People came to visit me and some of them seemed to know me well.
They looked vaguely familiar, and I felt sad for them. They were crying
and telling me stories about the memories we shared. I was somewhat
interested, but I didn’t have the mental energy to keep up with what
they were saying and I couldn’t place myself in their stories.
When everything that you worked for is gone, how do you survive?
It was not easy, but what I was most grateful for is that my parents
taught me how to pray and have faith. Can I tell you I was put to
