Bahl%u00a0 Associate Vice Chancellor%u00a0%u00a0IT IS WITH GREAT PLEASURE that I share our Design, Facilities and Safety Services (DFSS) Annual Report for FY 2024. DFSS departments include: %u2022 Business and Financial Planning. BFP provides financial and human resource support to all DFSS units for capital, operating and maintenance projects totaling over $200 million and 350 FTE positions. %u2022 Design and Construction Services. DCS represents the University in all aspects of capital development and improvement with the goal of creating quality, efficient, safe and sustainable facilities respectful of the region%u2019s unique and sensitive environment.%u2022 Environmental Health & Safety. EHS provides guidance and services to the campus community to promote the integration of health, safety, risk management, emergency management, continuity planning and environmental stewardship to all University activities.%u2022 Facilities Management. FM provides operations and maintenance services to the core campus, focusing on statesupported, general-funded buildings and infrastructure, which include 4 million gross square feet and over 260 acres of grounds, while sustainably maintaining the campus's energy needs.In DFSS we aim to work seamlessly to provide needed support to enhance UC Santa Barbara%u2019s education and research mission. Fiscal Year 2024 was a year full of accomplishments and initiatives, which you will read about in the ensuing pages. It was also a year full of movement. %u2022 We physically moved our offices from the %u201cYard%u201d on campus to leased-space in Cabrillo Business Park. Our new space allows all of Facilities Management maintenance, trades, and the stockroom to be physically located together; Design and Construction Services to have office space suitable to hold meetings for the multi-million dollars of capital projects it manages; and Administration to make better first impressions with potential and new staff.%u2022 We moved forward with planning long-overdue new student housing to provide 3500 beds and the largest capital project this campus has overseen.%u2022 Our Dive and Boat Safety Program moved up to oversee a UC Systemwide Enterprise program due to our expertise and leadership in the field.%u2022 UC Santa Barbara moved closer to becoming a carbon-free campus by completing the final draft of the UCSB Clean Energy Master Plan.%u2022 We recruited and added 45 new amazing team members to move us toward continually meeting our mission with integrity.Thank you for reading about our FY 2024 accomplishments.
