Working with a Chancellor-appointed Decarbonization Project Study Committee, UC Santa Barbara completed its draft Clean Energy Master Plan. The Plan is a comprehensive study focused on decarbonizing and electrifying campus by at least 90%. While UC Santa Barbara already procures 100% clean power from the UC Clean Power Program, heating and hot water provided by distributed heaters throughout campus buildings consume approximately 94% of UCSB%u2019s natural gas. By electrifying all heating and hot water, likely through an all-electric central utility plant, the campus will exceed the 90% reduction goal. The plan also identifies environmental justice and equity considerations with the transition to fossil-free infrastructure. CLEAN ENERGY MASTER PLAN
