MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE QUANTITYThe California Fire Code contains stringent regulations addressing the amounts of hazardous materials that can be stored and used in a particular building. Ensuring compliance with these regulations requires the maintenance of accurate, up-to-date and high-resolution chemical inventories, as well as detailed knowledge about the building%u2019s design and fire suppression features. As such, in an effort to monitor our continued compliance with these regulations, UCSB has initiated a Maximum Allowable Quantity Management Plan, a multi-year effort that encompasses an intensive chemical inventory process plus thorough inspections of buildings containing hazardous materials. This initiative is being driven by the efforts of EHS research safety, hazardous waste and fire prevention teams as well as by members of our research community.
