MOVE TO In order to make way for the student housing project the DFSS and HDAE teams located in the former Facilities Management (FM) yard relocated to a leased facility at the Cabrillo Business Park on Navigator Way. The FM yard had housed Facilities Management for more than 70 years. The move provided the much-needed opportunity to consolidate shops that were previously on Campus. The new facility includes shop space for the Paint Shop, Carpenter Shop, Lock Shop, Irrigation Shop, Energy & Engineering Services, and Life Safety Services which were housed at the Yard. The new building includes shop space for the Plumbing shop, HVAC shop, and PM Crew which previously occupied mechanical rooms and small offices. The new building also has office space for Grounds and Custodial managers and supervisors.Relocating the FM Stockroom without disrupting day-to-day operations was the key to the move. Stockroom staff worked a long weekend to finalize the move from the Yard to Navigator, and be open for business the following day. Improvements in efficiency are ongoing as staff optimize stock placement while continuing with their day to day operations.Although the new location has added another three minutes of drive time to and from Campus, FM staff are happy with their new shops, offices and locker rooms at Navigator, a place for FM to call home for the next 70 years.
