Colorful Choices

Each food group provides us with essential nutrients to help our bodies stay healthy and reduce our risk of diseases or health conditions. Likewise, an insuf cient amount of each food group can result in malnutrition, vitamin de ciency, and other health complications. Eating the right kind of food can have a positive impact on work performance throughout the day. In fact, some studies suggest that when we eat a meal high
in saturated fats, we’re less able to concentrate and stay awake because it reduces the body’s ability to effectively carry blood to the brain. Fruits and vegetables provide us with important vitamins and nutrients that our body needs to function properly.

Responsibilities & Resources Needed
• Identify the date of this activity (typically a week).
• Encourage employees to eat a colorful combination of at least  ve fruits and vegetables each day during the week.
• Send out communication to employees 1 week before the event, as well as three days during the week of the event (Monday, Wednesday and Friday).
• Collect tracking logs from participants and hand out a survey to all who participated. These can be turned in for entry into a participant raf e, if you so choose.
• Send out survey post challenge
