4. Materials and Resources
Material selection is at the heart of sustainability. Environmental impacts
can be reduced by choosing natural, organic and recycled materials.
However, each material has its own advantages and disadvantages;
Therefore, it is important to perform a life cycle assessment (LCA).
• Organic cotton: It is grown without the use of pesticides, but water use is
still controversial.
• Tencel/Lyocell: Fibers obtained from sustainable forests, biodegradable.
• Recycled polyester: Reduces plastic waste, but quality may decrease with
each cycle.
