P. 88

The candidate demanded a copy of the agreement be provided but it was explained to the candidate
that a copy of a Pearson Confidential document could not be provided. The candidate then asked to
take a picture with a phone. This request was denied as well. The candidate was asked to turn off the
phone before re-reading the document. While reading the document, the candidate was able to power
back on the phone and quickly took a photo of the first page of the document.

There are two acts of misconduct by this candidate. The first contravention involved the candidate’s
refusal to acknowledge the on-screen NDA which led to the testing session being terminated. The
second involved the use of the cell phone camera to take a picture of a confidential document.
The EQS Committee reviewed the incident and agreed to allow the candidate to re-test after re-
application with the appropriate fee after a three-month time period.

The candidate successfully re-attempted the exam, without incident, on February 20, 2020.

               Updates on EQS Committee Activities

Each of the examination development committees performs many tasks throughout the year via email
and conference calls. When we meet face-to-face, there is not a moment of time wasted as the agendas
are always filled with tasks to complete during the meeting. In our meetings in the past year, we have
all learned new ways of evaluating the examination content. We have been introduced to the Angoff
and Hofstee methods of setting passing scores. Also new to us this year has been the concept of the
“just barely qualified” candidate and how it applies to item writing and test development.

There are too many projects that were undertaken by the EQS Committees for me to list them all here.
These are a few of the highlights of the activities of the committees in the past year.

                   • Although unable to participate in the live call, I later received the recording and acted an outside
SRP to participate in the standard setting exercises. Thank you to the committee for letting me
                       participate with you.
