EXAMINATIONS, QUALIFICATIONS, AND

                                STANDARDS (EQS) COMMITTEE REPORT

Although COVID-19 has shut down the world as we know it, the EQS Committee and the EQS discipline-
specific Sub-Committees have continued to work to maintain the high standards of our examinations.
Although we will probably continue to work remotely for the foreseeable future, with the guidance of
Dr. Fidler, Dr. Risk, Gina Neuhalfen, and newest staff member Molly Coe, the members of our
committees are committed to upholding the high standards the members of AMT expect in our
               examinations.

The AMT staff has developed an online portal for certain groups to share information and discuss issues.
This may become our primary form of communications within the EQS Committees.

               NCCA Accreditation

All seven of the exam programs have been reaccredited by the National Commission for Certifying
Agencies (NCCA). I believe in an email with Dr. Fidler I likened it to him slaying a dragon and
congratulated him on maintaining his sanity through the process. Dr. Fidler and all those that provided
supporting materials for the self-study are to be congratulated for successfully completing the process.
With the re-accreditation, AMT has made policy changes to address NCCA requirements.

I’d like to share with you the following policy changes that have taken place in the last few years (from
the AMT “Testing Department Updates” newsletter).

                   • SMEs are required to provide AMT with an updated resume, every three years of service.

                   • SMEs are required to be actively working or teaching in their fields of specialty.

                   • EQS Committees should reflect varying levels of experience in the field (entry-level, mid-career,
and advanced-level perspectives), and be representative of the different geographic regions of
the country, as well as include participation from both practitioner and academic perspectives.

                   • EQS Committees are being expanded to include resource SMEs in addition to the fixed, primary
committee structure (to include volunteers willing to serve as item authors, technical review
and/or standard settings, SME participation between members of different committees, and as
alternates on rotational status) to ensure adequate support for the examination development
                       process.

CE credits are now available for SME attendance at EQS meetings as organizational participation credits.
You can claim a total of three credit hours each year you participated in an EQS meeting, up to nine total
credit hours over a three-year certification span. More details can be found at the AMT website by
consulting the Certification Continuation Program (CCP) Guidance Document located at the following
               Resource page:

The AMT policy “Subject Matter Expert Panel Composition and Requirements” has been updated to
reflect the aforementioned changes. I am including the section, Expanded, two-level panel structure:
The Subject Matter Expert Resource Panel (SRP) so that you may each see a way in which you may want
