CASMET LIAISON REPORT
Regional Council Meeting held in Kingston, Jamaica, 3 – 4 May 2019
Countries present: Bahamas, Cayman Islands, Grenada, St. Kitts/Nevis, St. Lucia, Trinidad and Tobago,
Jamaica and USA.
Items of discussion:
Friday, 3 May 2019:
• Harry Narine, MT informed the council that he had been receiving correspondence from ASCP
expressing their desire to be present at the BGM in Trinidad and Tobago in October 2019. They
would like to make a presentation to the membership about the ASCPi. When compared side by
side, AMT offered CASMET a better membership package. The CASMET Liaison reminded the
council that ASCP had made this presentation several years ago. Also, that CASMET has recently
signed a letter of agreement between the two organizations. It was determined that ASCP
would only notify the current CASMET president. President Khan-Mohammed stated unless she
received correspondence there would be no response to ASCP. At that time, she would inform
them of the agreement between AMT and CASMET.
• Letter of Agreement has been signed by Chris Damon and Zobida Khan-Mohammed. It took a
few months to finalize but all issues were resolved.
• All AMT magazines may go electronic. The cost of shipping a magazine is getting more and more
prohibitive for shipping to the Caribbean region.
• Bonnie Culmer, MT and Lynette Saunders, MT are currently working on a contract with the
Atlantis Hotel for the Magnolia Educational Treasures meeting in October 2020. Due to excess
cost, the meeting was cancelled. CASMET has agreed to meet at the Magnolia Educational
Treasures in October 2020 in Louisville, KY.
Saturday, 4 May 2019:
• Past President Janice Wissart and Past President Colleen Sinclair-Mattis visited and expressed
gratitude to the council and for working to resolve issues in Jamaica. They thanked the AMT
representatives for taking time to show support the organizations in the region.
• Met with Caribbean Examination Council (CXC) (Mr. Rodney Payne, Sr. Examinations
Administration and Security).
• Examinations are to be regionally developed for those who don’t have a national certification,
AMT, ASCP, etc. The overall purpose would be for professional standardization in the region. All
applicants must apply through CASMET. AMT examinations may be available to those who
successfully pass the CXC regional examination. This will have to be coordinated when the
process is initiated and before finalization.
• AMT and CASMET Awards nominations were presented and discussed. It was pointed out again
that all AMT award forms must be obtained from the AMT website.
