PRESIDENT’S REPORT
It continues to be an honor and privilege to serve as AMT President. Thank you, AMT members and
Board of Directors members, for the continued support and confidence.
Under the leadership of AMT’s Executive Director, Christopher Damon, and the amazing AMT staff, AMT
continues to prosper and grow. AMT could not continue to be “THE CHOICE for allied health
professionals” without the countless hours and dedication of our state society members as well as state
and national committees. Our dedicated District Councillors work with the state societies with love and
commitment to AMT. They are the “link” that keeps the states moving forward. Our Board of Directors
continues to keep AMT’s vision “AMT is THE CHOICE for allied health professional certification” as the
focus of our planning, discussions and decisions. It is a pleasure working with such dedicated and
professional members. They are always working to keep AMT moving forward to benefit all our
members.
Some highlights from our past year:
• Our national meeting in Chicago in July of 2019 was rewarding and exciting. Spending the July
4 holiday in the “Windy City” was one highlight of many. For me personally it was an
th
extraordinary time. Our stay in such an old historic hotel was an exceptional experience: if you
missed the “Conrad Suite” you truly missed being transported back in time.
• We welcomed two new members to the board: Public Member, Jackie Harris and newly elected
board member Kathy Sutton, MT (AMT)
• Two new non-voting observers to the Board from among our newer members were appointed.
We welcomed Rebecca Teves, RMA (AMT) and Amanda Rich, MT (AMT)
• Judiciary Councillor, Kimberly Chervount and Executive Councillor, Edna Anderson were re-
appointed as well as of four of the five District Councillors and appointment of a new Great
Lakes District Councillor Vanessa Austin, RMA (AMT).
• Members of National Committees were appointed
• Award decisions were made, Congratulations to all. The two highest awards MOM and OGM
were both from the Southern District – congratulations to Kaye Tschop, MT (AMT) – OGM and
Alice Macomber, RMA (AMT) – MOM
• The new LMS (On-Line Learning Center) has been upgraded. this allows members to experience
an updated look and feel with a dedicated learning catalog and improved search functionality
• AMT rolled out a new and improved national magazine – the AMT “PULSE”- which now
encompasses both the former AMT magazines. The new publication has won an award – the
winter issue earned a Platinum Award for the Hermes Creative Awards in the category “Print
Media Design.” Congratulations AMT staff for a job well done!
• Online Communities are now up and running. These are communities that enable members to
communicate and engage with peers. To access on-line communities log onto the AMT website,
go to https://community.americanmedtec.org/home
• The February meeting of the board focused on strategic planning – one whole day was focused
on this. The board and the District Councilors participated. We are in process of assessing the
outcomes. I can report that after concentrated discussion new Vision, Mission and Value
statements were approved
o Vision: AMT is THE CHOICE for allied health professional certification
o Mission: AMT is a member-led organization of allied health professionals that
credentials and supports its certificants and promotes competence in healthcare
delivery
