commonly used in civilian turbine-engine powered aviation is Jet B, which is used for its enhanced
cold-weather performance.
Jet fuel is a mixture of many different hydrocarbons and is related to the flashpoint and how the
carbons are distributed. The range of their sizes (molecular weights or carbon numbers) is restricted
by the requirements for the product, for example, the freezing point or smoke point. Kerosene type
jet fuel (including Jet A and Jet A-1) has a carbon number distribution between about 8 and 16 (carbon
atoms per molecule); wide-cut or naphtha-type jet fuel (including Jet B) is between about 5 and 15.
Jet A is currently only used in the U.S.A. The flash point on this fuel is higher and has an auto ignition
temperature which is safer to handle than AVGAS. The big difference between the two fuels is the
freezing point. When the fuel is being transported it is clearly marked on the trucks and pipes that the
fuel is “Jet A”. The average consumption of the fuel is over 22 billion barrels yearly.

Petrol is a transparent petroleum derived oil that is used primarily as a fuel in internal combustion
engines. It consists mostly of organic compounds obtained by the fractional distillation of petroleum,
enhanced with a variety of additives. Some gasolines also contain ethanol as an alternative fuel.
In North America, the term gasoline is often shortened in usage to gas. This requires petroleum fuel in
a gaseous state to be referred to as natural gas to avoid confusion with liquid "gas". Elsewhere petrol
is the common name in the UK, Republic of Ireland, and Australia and in most of the other
Commonwealth countries.
Gasoline is available in three octane grades, all developed on a molecular level to clean up intake valves
and keep vital engine parts like fuel injectors clean for better fuel economy. Branded retail gasoline
meets top tier detergent Gasoline standards.
Middle Distillates which include: Most Grade 1 and Grade 2 Fuel Oils and Diesel Fuel Oils as well as
Most Domestic Fuels and Light Crude Marine Gas Oils. These oils are moderately volatile, less
evaporative and moderately toxic.
