Dr. Byrne is the Associate Professor and Chair at The College of New Jersey. She is an internationally recognized expert in
Oncology Nursing. She has received numerous awards including the “Diva” status among New Jersey Nurses from the
New Jersey State Nurses Association Institute for Nursing-one of 13 nurses in 2016; March of Dimes Nurse of the Year-
Academic Educator for New Jersey in 2017.
She maintains a clinical practice as an Advanced Practice Nurse with MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper and is a part
of the Camden County Cancer Screening Project. She volunteers with Explorer Sans Frontiers, a non-profit organization
that provides humanitarian efforts in education, health care, and community outreach in Port au Price, Haiti. She serves as
a peer reviewer for Nurse Educator, Oncology Nursing Forum, and the Journal of General Internal Medicine. She is
actively involved in Global Education taking students and faculty to Haiti, England, and participating in an exchange with
India. She is the past president of Delta Nu Chapter, Sigma.
Dr. Byrne received her Diploma in Nursing from the Helene Fuld School of Nursing, her Bachelor of Science in Nursing
from La Salle, University, her Master of Science in Nursing from Widener University, Certificate in Health Care
Administration, Widener University, a Post-Master Certificate-Family Nurse Practitioner, and a DrNP from Drexel
University.
