Dr. Capelli was voted by students/alumni as one of their favorite faculty. She is an Assistant Professor in the department of nursing at The College of
New Jersey. She joined Trenton State College in 1980 and has taught at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Her expertise is in acute care
nursing coming from her military experience. Dr. Cappelli was a flight nurse in the United States Air Force Reserve for over 25 years. During that 25-
year period, she served as a flight nurse, Director of Continuing Nurse Education, and Chief Nurse Executive of the 714 Aeromedical Evacuation
th
Squadron, McGuire Air Force Base, New Jersey. She was activated and deployed to Ramstein Air Base, Germany during the Gulf War and treated
wartime injuries suffered by service men and women of all armed service branches. During her tour of duty, she worked air evacuation missions
between Ramstein Air Base, and Andrews Air Force Base, Maryland.
Dr. Capelli is an active member of her professional nurses’ association. She served as President of the New Jersey State Nurses Association from
2000-2002 and served on the Board of Directors from 1998 to 2004. She was a New Jersey Delegate to the American Nurses Association House of
Delegates for over 5 years.
She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Trenton State College, her Master of Arts in Nursing Education from New York University, and
her EdD in Counseling Psychology from the University of Sarasota.
