Bana’s Last Tweet
Bana Alabed is a seven-year-old girl from east Aleppo. With her mother
Fatmah’s help she opened a Twitter account in which she often tweets live
about life under the bombardments. In recent months she offered a glance
to life in the bombarded city, (and) became a voice for the helpless. Her
followers numbers are increasing, more than a hundred thousand
worldwide have been catching up on what’s happening in Aleppo via
Bana’s reports. Bana has become a symbol. A Dane reporter who
interviewed Bashar al-Assad, the (man) doing whatever he sees fit with the
civilian population in the city under Russia’s support, was asked to address
the truth that Bana uncovered. Several hours ago her mother tweeted a last
message, “Under heavy bombardments now, can't live anymore. When we
die, keep talking for 200,000 still inside, Fatmah.” It’s still unclear what
happened to the girl and what this tweet means. Bana’s followers are
praying for another tweet, hoping that the sweet girl’s fate won’t be the
same as that of thousands of children who have already been killed
