What to do When it’s Hot?

Thirty six degrees were registered today at Zikim beach at the Ashkelon Regional Council, and
especially for the hottest day in this summer Dror decided to set a table at the beach. The beach has
been closed lately due to the tension in the south, and the region’s residents just waited for the
moment it would reopen. Rani Rahamim, a farmer from Nahal Oz, had to go to work today.
Because of the heat he had to water the field, but he let most of his employees go on a day off.
Thirty five degrees were registered at the foothills of the Old City in Jerusalem, dozens of kids
jumped and gathered around the small water fountains squirting water in order to calm down from
the heat a bit. Even though fewer people were seen at the Tel Aviv beach at noon, Tal, a waiter at
the Hilton Beach asked specifically to work in the harsh heat, “As far as I’m concerned, this is
better for me than sitting in an office with the air conditioner on nineteen degrees. More
challenging, more fun.” And in Eilat, in the shade near the pool, just forty four degrees were
registered. “We’re always at the pool, it’s so hot.” And at least (you) can take comfort in the fact
that this heat wave will break tomorrow.
