Travelling with Grandma

They set out on a journey across Eastern Asia more than a month ago.

Twenty six year old Netanel and seventy four years old Edna. It all started
when the grandson, who was born and raised in Sweden, suggested that his

grandma pack a hikers’ backpack and join him on a bonding trip through

China, South Korea, the Philippines and India. An after-army trip for him,
a post-retirement trip for her. But the challenge of the trip isn’t just its

geographic destinations, but also and maybe mostly the collision of the
two worlds – Netanel’s and grandma Edna’s. in this meeting of

generations each contributes from their abilities, Edna (is in charge) of

laundry and food, and Netanel (is in charge) of technology, documenting
the journey on video and uploading a post every few days to a blog on a

Facebook page he opened called The Gran Adventure. And this isn’t just a

favor he’s doing for her, twenty four-seven with grandma is a good
opportunity to learn from her as well. He continues to upload their video

clips to the blog, not for the fame, but simply out of pride. And the

objective is to encourage others to do just what he did and not settle for a
phone call to grandma once a week.
