Living in Syria is Impossible
Less than half a year ago an internationally-ensured ceasefire was declared
in Syria, but the population killing continues. In the Idlib Governorate, the
rebels’ stronghold in the country’s north, the deadliest chemical assault
since the signing of the agreement to dismantle and destroy Assad’s
chemical weapons depositories – took place this morning. A massacre with
no puddles of blood, but with horrific sights the likes of which we haven’t
seen in Syria in a long time. Dozens of casualties laying in the streets,
yearning for rescue, and the rescuers spray water on them in an attempt to
make things easier for them. There was no doubt (in the minds) of medical
teams treating the casualties this time; this is a nerve gas hit. According to
the last count, about a hundred dead, including dozens of children and
more than four hundred injured from gas inhalation. Assad’s media staves
(these) claims off and accuses the rebels that they are the ones who put
chemical weapons (they) brought from Turkey in the struck residential
buildings. But against the regime’s cynicism, in the streets hope spurs out
again that in the world, everyone bothered by these images will act against
Assad this time, not just denounce the massacre.
