                         Arkadi Duchin

Arkadi Duchin (born June 9th 1963) is an Israeli singer-songwriter, musical
producer and restaurateur, the former soloist for the rock band “Natasha’s
Friends”. Duchin was born and raised in Belarus, which was a part of the Soviet
Union. During his childhood he learned to play bass and piano by himself. In 1978,
when he was fifteen years old, he made Aliyah to Israel with his family, to Kiryat
Yam.
During his army service he lived in Migdal Ha’emek and along with his friend
Micha Shitrit started a band that became “Natasha’s Friends”, in which Duchin
composed, wrote, sang and played the keyboards. In 1989 “Natasha’s Friends”’
Debut album was released, as well as Duchin’s first album as a soloist, “Want and
Will Be”, which was comprised entirely from the songs of the poet Vladimir
Vysotsky. The albums and the concerts which accompanied them were very
successful, but in 1996 the band fell apart. After the dismantling of the band,
Duchin started writing, composing and adapting songs and albums for other
singers. At the same time Duchin continued performing and started working as a
chef in a restaurant.
In 2004 Duchin released the collection album “More than Me”. The album also
included one new song, “Who Loves You More Than I Do”, which Duchin
composed to Micha Shitrit’s lyrics. The song became a huge hit and one of the
symbols of the time. This song is recognized as a romantic song, even though it
was written about the state of Israel. Also, Duchin told in a number of interviews
that he’s studying Kabalah and interested in Judaism.
Arkadi Duchin’s songs that appear in this book: ‘Because of You’, ‘I Love You’
