                          Arik Einshtein

Arik Einshtein (born January 3rd 1939) is an Israeli singer, songwriter and
actor. As a singer he was a member of the ‘Nachal’, ‘Green Onion’, ‘The
Yarkon Bridge Trio’, ‘The High Windows’ and ‘Lool’ bands. His
cooperation with Shalom Chanoch and the ‘Churchill’s’ band created the first
rock albums in Israel.
Arik Einshtein was born by the name Arieh Einshtein, grew and was raised in
the city of Tel Aviv. When he was young, he was a member of the “Young
Shomer” youth movement and Israeli champion of high jump and shot put for
youth. He was also a basketball player in the youth team of “Hapoel Tel
Aviv”. Einshtein loved sports a lot, and is especially known as an old and
faithful fan of “Hapoel Tel Aviv”, an Israeli soccer team, which is mentioned
in a few of his well known songs like “Drive Slowly” and “They Told Him”.
Einshtein is famous for his deep and hypnotizing Bass voice.
In the recent 30 years Einshtein stopped performing in front of live audiences
and only recorded albums. The music critic Yoav Kutner described Arik
Einshtein: “Arik Einshtein is more than just the greatest Israeli singer.
Einshtein is the true land of Israel”.
