Ehud Manor
Ehud Manor (July 13th 1941 – April 12th 2005) was a songwriter, translator
and successful broadcaster of music programs in “Kol Israel” radio. Ehud
Manor was born in the colony Binyamina, about which he wrote many songs.
After his army service he studied psychology and English literature.
In the summer of 1968, during the War of Attrition, his young brother
Yehuda Viner was killed. Ehud, who loved his young brother a lot, wrote
these songs about him: “My Young Brother Yehuda”, “A Beautiful Son is
Born” and “I Have No Other Country”.
Ehud Manor has translated and written hundreds of songs in wonderful and
lively Hebrew, which became a base for the modern Israeli Hebrew. The first
composer he worked with was Nurit Hirsh. From the mid 70’s Manor began
working with Matti Caspi, who wrote music for personal ballads like “Eternal
Pact” and “My Second Childhood”. In the 80’s Ehud Manor cooperated with
the singer Boaz Sharabi as well, in the song “I Wish”.
Ehud manor had a great contribution to Israeli music. Manor wrote songs of
every variety, light humorist songs and complicated and personal songs about
his family, many love songs and songs about raising children (like “My
Second Childhood”).
