                        Shalom Chanoch

Shalom Chanoch (born September 1st 1946) is an Israeli singer-songwriter
and composer, who is considered to be one of the first creators of Israeli rock.
His work has greatly influenced Israel’s popular music. Especially familiar is
his cooperation with the singer Arik Einshtein, which created the first Israeli
rock albums.
Shalom Chanoch was born in Kibbutz Mishmarot. He was still a child when
his musical talent was discovered, when he played the recorder and mandolin,
and listened to many kinds of musical genres – classical music, Russian folk
songs, blues etc. when he was 12 Chanoch got a jazz guitar and started to
play and write songs, and after two years he wrote and composed his first
song, “Night”, along with another member of the Kibbutz, Me’ir Ariel. At
age 16 he started studying at the theatre school “Beit Zvi”. From age 16 and
until today, Chanoch continues to fill theatres of both young and adult
audiences.
