The Aqueduct That Passes Through Armon HaNatziv
The people in Jerusalem needed much water: to drink, to shower and to do
laundry.
Also in the Temple they needed much water.
Before the time of Herod, Jerusalem was small. In the springs that are close to
Jerusalem there was enough water for the people and for the Temple.
But in the time of Herod, the Temple is already bigger and there are many
people in Jerusalem.
The water in the springs that are close is not enough, and therefore, they build
two aqueducts that bring water to Jerusalem from afar.
One of the aqueducts passes here, in Armon HaNatziv.
It is hard to build a big aqueduct without modern technology – but the aqueduct
works very well, like many others during the times of Hasmonaim and Herod.
