The Aqueduct That Passes Through Armon HaNatziv
                       Description of the Aqueduct

In the period of Hasmonaim and Herod they needed a lot of water for the
following things:

   - The priests needed water in order to be pure.
   - Those who went up during the Festivals needed water.
   - There were already more people in Jerusalem and they needed more

water to drink, to wash themselves and to launder clothes.
Until that time, the water would reach Jerusalem from the springs that were
close to the Temple. In order to increase the amount of water, they built two
aqueducts that brought water from farther places. One of the aqueducts passes
through Armon HaNatziv.
In order to keep allow the water flow, the aqueduct, it is not straight and
itpasses around and inside mountains. In Armon Hanatziv area it passes inside
the mountain. The aqueduct originates at a distance of 10 aerial kilometers,
but because it's not straight - its length is more than 20 kilometers.
It is truly a wonder how they built it with technology from 2000 years ago!
The sophistication in the building of the aqueduct, reminds buildings of
Herod, who was a great architect
