Act Out 32
Act it out from English
Dana: Everything’s green!
Batya: Yeah, there’s nothing like the north.
Dana: The weather’s excellent, too.
Batya: Yes, the weather really is good:
It’s hot and pleasant, but not hot like in summer
Dana: What, you don’t like the summer?
Batya:
Don’t like? I hate the summer: hate the heat, hate the humidity.
Dana: And I love the summer: I love sitting in the sun, going to the beach [to
the sea] and eating ice cream, and I love the summer fruit in Israel:
Batya: watermelon, melon, and apricot.
Dana: Yeah, there are a few good things in summer. But I prefer the winter.
Really? What’s good about [the] winter?
Batya: Everything: The rain, the snow…
Dana:
Batya: What rain and what snow? There’s a drought in Israel. It doesn’t rain a
lot, and it almost doesn’t snow.
Dana: That’s true, but every rain and snow is a reason to party. When it rains
a lot, everybody talks about it: on television, on the radio, at home and
at work – everybody talks about the rain. And when it snows…
Then?
Batya: That really is a reason to party. You know, when it snows one
centimeter in Israel, (we) don’t go to school, to university or to work.
Dana:
Batya: (We) stay at home, drink hot chocolate and watch a movie in bed.
I heard yesterday the weather forecast on the radio. The weatherman
said that it won’t snow this year.
Excellent, I’m glad!
Dana: Glad? But you like snow!
Batya: That’s why I’m glad. When weatherman says it won’t snow, it means
that it will (snow) for sure - and a lot.
