1 So, Shira… :דניאל
:שירה
2 What? :דניאל
:שירה
3 You want to know why I’m making aliyah :דניאל
to Israel? :שירה
:דניאל
4 Yes.
:שירה
5 Ok. I have an uncle in Israel – my father’s :דניאל
brother. He lives in Jerusalem. :שירה
:דניאל
6 Oh.
:שירה
My dad loves his brother very much, and :דניאל
7 every year in August, we come for a visit :שירה
:דניאל
in Israel.
:שירה
8 What do you do on the visit? :דניאל

:דניאל
11 Do you like the visits here? :שירה
Yes, very much. All year I think about the
visit. At the end of the visit I don’t want to
return to America. In short, my uncle has
11 three children: Benny, Gil, and Tali. Benny
and I are good friends; we speak a lot on
the phone and on Skype, and also write a
lot of emails (to each other).
12 Nice.
Yeah. In 2006 Benny was a soldier and
13 there was a war in Lebanon. And you know
what?
14 What?
I thought I should [need to] be in Lebanon,
helping Benny and his friends. I thought I
15 should also enlist in the IDF. I thought I
should finish college and come on aliyah to
Israel. And that’s it. Now I’m here.
16 And your parents? What do they say about
this?
17 They don’t like it, but they understand.
They’re terrific parents.
18 Terrific? Wow, you really are an Israeli…
19 Thank you very much!
21 Umm… thank you very much isn’t really
Israeli…
21 I know, but… I’m Israeli, but also a
gentleman.
22 Never mind… One week in Israel and it’ll
pass.
