3 :‫ דניאל‬You want to know why I’m making aliyah to Israel?
4 :‫ שירה‬Yes.
5 :‫ דניאל‬Ok. I have an uncle in Israel – my father’s brother. He lives in

Jerusalem.
6 :‫ שירה‬Oh.
7 :‫ דניאל‬My dad loves his brother very much, and every year in August,

we come for a visit in Israel.
8 :‫ שירה‬What do you do on the visit?
9 :‫ דניאל‬We tour the country, meet friends, and many more things.
11 :‫ שירה‬Do you like the visits here?
11 :‫ דניאל‬Yes, very much. All year I think about the visit. At the end of the

visit I don’t want to return to America. In short, my uncle has

three children: Benny, Gil, and Tali. Benny and I are good

friends; we speak a lot on the phone and on Skype, and also write

a lot of emails (to each other).
12 :‫ שירה‬Nice.
13 :‫ דניאל‬Yeah. In 2006 Benny was a soldier and there was a war in

Lebanon. And you know what?
14 :‫ שירה‬What?
15 :‫ דניאל‬I thought I should [need to] be in Lebanon, helping Benny and his

friends. I thought I should also enlist in the IDF. I thought I
should finish college and come on aliyah to Israel. And that’s it.
Now I’m here.
16 :‫ שירה‬And your parents? What do they say about this?
17 :‫ דניאל‬They don’t like it, but they understand. They’re terrific parents.
18 :‫ שירה‬Terrific? Wow, you really are an Israeli…
19 :‫ דניאל‬Thank you very much!
21 :‫ שירה‬Umm… thank you very much isn’t really Israeli…
21 :‫ דניאל‬I know, but… I’m Israeli, but also a gentleman.
22 :‫ שירה‬Never mind… One week in Israel and it’ll pass.
