World Champions
Mooki and Sa'id Mulay are not just a couple of world champions in the
Judo realm. Very soon they will also star in a movie and a series based on
their life stories, and mainly on the unique friendship that has evolved
between the Israeli champion and his Iranian colleague over the last few
years. About a year and a half ago, Mulay decided, in a very brave act on
his part, to defect from his country Iran, after the Ayatollah regime did not
allow him to go against Mooki in the biggest competitions of all, including
the world championship. A few weeks ago, Mulay came to compete in
Israel for the first time in yet another step of courage, vision and peace,
which impressed many in the world, and made us, the Israelis, fall in love
with him once and for all. The hug was mutual and at the end of the
competition in Israel, where he won a silver medal, Mulay thanked the
Israeli public with warm words.
