Just a few days ago it was impossible to imagine this moment, but now the mess created around the
song for Israel’s seventieth festivities is behind us. “At first they said we’ll ask Gali, then they said
it’s not Gali it’s Eden, then they said it’s Eden but together with Gali.” “The state of Israel, in a
nutshell. A mess, everything works out eventually.” Today Atari confirms that at first there was an
attempt to unite her with the ‘Milk and Honey’ band that originally performed the song with her at
the Eurovision and took first place. “Back then everyone had this dream to make a dream that hasn’t
been come true in forty years, come true. The news broke that Eden (will) sing it on her own, and
then all of the people of Israel and the media, I have to admit, fought for this thing.” And when the
government faces a coalition crisis, the Minister of Culture and Sport Miri Regev runs around all
the preparations for the Independence Day event. On one day she’s at the Atari and Ben Zaken duet,
on another she meets Yardena Arazi and Lior Narkis who will perform the Hora song to accompany
the reenactment of the dancing circles that followed the declaration of independence on Iyar fifth.
The turmoils surrounding the seventieth festivities hit us one after the other. This makes headlines
and brings the events into public awareness, but let’s hope that at the end Independence Day itself
will really be festive.
