A YouTube Star

Meet Rian. Like his friends in kindergarten, he loves playing with toys very much. From cars to
trains, to Legos and up to Disney toys. Except that unlike other children, five-year-old Rian is
making a great deal of money off of his hobby. His YouTube channel has more than five and a half
million followers who are just waiting for the daily video, in which he checks out the newest toys in
the market. This may seem a little funny to you, but this video channel by Rian is the most watched
channel in the world, more than pop star Justin Bieber’s. the video channel created by his parents,
started operating in March last year. At first it hardly got any views, but then, four months later, this
video was posted. This video, in which Rian plays with a hundred toys simultaneously, now has
about five hundred and seventy three million views. All of the videos in his channel have already
piled up about nine billion views. According to estimates, his parents, who manage the channel,
have earned about a million dollars a month just from ads on these videos. But the money doesn’t
only come from advertising, the success is also drawing in the big toy brands and networks, who
pay to have their names in the videos.
