Additional prepositions

And now we are going to look at four additional prepositions that are
combined with pronouns. These have a slightly different sound scheme
when conjugated. Conjugation of these prepositions is similar to
conjugation in plural.

Sons = ‫ָב ִנים‬

‫( = ָב ַני‬My sons) ‫ַה ָב ִנים ׁ ֶשּ ִלי‬

On him ‫עליו‬
‫ ַאח ַריְך‬/ ‫לפ ַניְך‬ On her ‫ע ֶליה‬ To you ‫יָך ֵא ֶליָך‬ ‫ַאתה‬
On us ‫ע ֵלינּו‬
‫ ַאחריו‬/ ‫לפניו‬ On you (m, ‫ע ֵלי ֶכם‬ To you ‫יְך ֵא ַליְך‬ ‫ַאת‬

‫ ַאח ֶריה‬/ ‫לפ ֶניה‬ plural) To him ‫יו ֵאליו‬ ‫הּוא‬

‫ ַאח ֵרינּו‬/ ‫לפ ֵנינּו‬ On them ‫ע ֵלי ֶהם‬ To her ‫יה ֵא ֶליה‬ ‫היא‬

‫ ַאח ֵרי ֶכם‬/ ‫לפ ֵני ֶכם‬ To us ‫ינּו ֵא ֵלינּו‬ ‫אנּו‬

‫ ַאח ֵרי ֶהם‬/ ‫לפ ֵני ֶהם‬ To you ‫י ֶכם א ֵלי ֶכם‬ ‫ַא ֶתם‬
‫ֵהם‬
(m, plural)

To them ‫יהם א ֵלי ֶהם‬

Examples:

‫ אל‬Do you want to call me? ?‫אתה רוצה לצלצל אלי‬
?‫מתי אתה רוצה לבוא אלינו‬
When do you want to come to us?
‫ על‬Can I trust you? ?‫אפשר לסמוך עליך‬
.‫חשבתי עליכם אתמול‬
I thought about you yesterday.

* Note: ..‫ = לצלצל ל‬to call someone (on the phone),
I called Moshe – ‫צלצלתי למשה‬

However, when conjugated with a pronoun the preposition ..‫ל‬

changes to preposition ...‫ ֶאל‬.
