A Billion Dollars in the Lottery
Millions of Americans’ hearts were broken before dawn; nobody guessed
these numbers right. They stood in line for hours, in the cold and rain,
tapped into savings, in the hope of winning a ticket to paradise. The
Americans bought and bought, even though the chance to guess six
numbers correctly is very small. The Americans’ dreams are predictable -
stop working, buy houses, send kids to college, take a trip around the
world. A billion and three hundred million dollars seem like a sum that’s
enough for any dream. Wrong. Ask the oligarchs, this figure isn’t enough
to buy Real Madrid for instance, with a price tag of three billion and two
hundred million dollars. A little advice from the Power Ball’s manager,
it’s a waste working hard and making calculations. In the past, most
winners let the computer decide. Good news for Israeli tourists in the
United States - (you’re) allowed to buy, allowed to win, and have to pay
lots of taxes.
