Spicer’s Mistake
Let’s start at the end: White House Press Secretary, Sean Spicer,
apologized, more than once. It’s not for us to accept or reject this apology,
but the press secretary for the most important office in the world revealed
troubling ignorance last night, at best. And this is how it happened: Spicer
tries to explain the government’s change of policy towards Syria’s
President, and has a hard time pronouncing his name. He later compares
the chemical strike Assad committed last week, to what happened in
World War II. White House reporters had a hard time believing what was
said. They commented [him], and the President of the United States’ Press
Secretary thanked (them) for the correction and kept digging (himself) in.
The shock and outrage spread like wildfire. Spicer, as mentioned, was
quick to apologize, but this didn’t stop him from becoming the joke of the
day. Trump himself hasn’t commented yet on his secretary’s information,
not even a tweet.
