The Christians are Angry
It hasn’t happened in almost a hundred and fifty years, but this week members of the Church of the
Holy Sepulchre decided to close down the church. The Christians in Jerusalem are angry because of
two things: the first one is that the mayor, Nir Barkat, decided that they have to pay retroactive
municipal tax, a sum that reaches seven hundred million NIS. The other one is that (they) want to
take all of the church’s lands in Jerusalem because it creates real estate problems. The church says
that no one in the world asks the church things like this, and it hurts the status-quo Jerusalem has. It
seems that it will take more time before they find a solution to this problem.
