                           Verbs

Past Tense

Past tense is sometimes called "The Suffix Tense" since the conjugation
of verbs in the past tense is done by adding suffixes to the verb root
letters. (Most Hebrew verbs have 3 root letters)

Past tense: General structure    ‫הּוא‬
                                 ‫ִהיא‬
                 ....             ‫ֵהם‬
             ‫ה‬....             *‫ ֵה ָּנה‬,‫ֵהן‬
             ‫ ּו‬....              ‫ֲא ִני‬
             ‫ ּו‬....             ‫ַא ָּתה‬
            ‫ ִתי‬....              ‫ַאת‬
             ‫ ָּת‬....           ‫ֲא ַנחנּו‬
             ‫ת‬....               ‫ַא ֶתם‬
             ‫נּו‬....             ‫ַא ֶתן‬
            ‫ ֶתם‬....
            ‫ ֶתן‬....

Note the suffixes used for each pronoun, while 3-d person masculine
remains unaltered.

* In the Torah ‫ֵהן ֵה ָּנה‬is used a lot of times instead of
