Why does the date tree resemble the people of Israel. All the parts of the date tree are
usable and there is no waste: the Lulav for the mitzva of 4 species, the big branches –
for the mitzva of the Sukkah roof, the fibers – to make ropes, the small branches - to
make nets, the trunk – to build houses. So are the people of Israel – there is no waste,
there are different usable qualities…
