Liberty Bell
The original bell is located in the city of Philadelphia in the state of
Pennsylvania, in the United States.
The bell in Pennsylvania constitutes the symbol of the American
Revolution, and turned into a historical site when it rang on July 8th 1776,
in order to summon the residents of Pennsylvania to hear the American
declaration of independence.
An interesting anecdote happened when they rang the bell for the first
time: the bell was cracked.
The bell was fixed, but then it was discovered that it doesn’t make a
sound. And so it was decided to make a new bell, and this is the bell that
stands in Philadelphia to this very day. Notice that the bell that was
brought to Israel is also cracked, as a reminder of that anecdote.
The bell rang a few more times in American history:
? At the time of the opening of the first American Congress.
? In 1837 the ringing of the bell told of the abolishment of slavery,
and so became a symbol of the Anti-Slavery Movement.
